The Role: Internal Control Officer
As the Internal Control Officer, you will play an essential role in safeguarding Lily Hospitals' assets, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations. You will be responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and enhancing the internal control environment across the hospital's operations to proactively mitigate risks.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, your daily and strategic duties will include:
- Control Evaluations: Conducting regular, comprehensive assessments of existing internal controls to identify gaps and areas for operational improvement.
- Policy Development: Designing, implementing, and reviewing internal control policies, procedures, and best practice guidelines.
- Risk Management: Performing periodic risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities, financial leaks, or operational bottlenecks.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensuring all departments strictly adhere to internal operational guidelines and regulatory health sector requirements.
- Investigations: Leading investigations into incidents of policy non-compliance, financial discrepancies, or suspected fraud.
- Staff Guidance: Providing professional guidance and training to personnel across various levels regarding compliance and internal control methodologies.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Partnering with department heads to streamline processes, minimize redundant workflows, and optimize resource utilization.
- Reporting: Preparing and presenting clear, actionable reports and strategic recommendations to senior management.
Key Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven experience in internal control, compliance, or auditing, ideally within the Healthcare, Hospitality, or Service sector.
- Professional Certifications: Active membership in relevant professional bodies such as ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or ACCA is highly advantageous.
- Framework Knowledge: A solid and practical understanding of the COSO framework is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities, coupled with exceptional attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently present findings to management and train diverse teams.
