The Opportunity: Credit Officer, Owerri
As a Credit Officer, you will play a crucial role in our mission by facilitating lending for our diverse client base. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously assess the creditworthiness of applicants, process all necessary paperwork, and ensure a smooth, efficient loan application process. Key Responsibilities: What You'll Do
- Review and process incoming loan requests with precision.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients’ financial status to determine eligibility.
- Evaluate creditworthiness and identify potential risks associated with loan applications.
- Liaise effectively with clients to collect necessary financial data and documentation.
- Perform in-depth risk analysis to approve or, when necessary, reject loan requests based on established criteria.
- Develop and set up clear, manageable payment plans for approved loans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all loan applications and client interactions.
- Proactively follow up with clients regarding loan renewals and additional financial needs.
- Monitor the progress and repayment status of existing loans diligently.
- Engage in daily and weekly repayment collection activities, ensuring timely settlements.
Who We Are Looking For: Requirements & Skills
To excel in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in finance and a customer-focused mindset:
- Proven Work Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Credit Officer, Loan Officer, or in a similar financial role.
- Lending Expertise: Hands-on experience with various lending procedures and financial products.
- Analytical Proficiency: Ability to accurately create and process financial spreadsheets and strong analytical skills to evaluate complex financial data.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, coupled with strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Customer Service Acumen: A commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
- Educational Background: NCE, OND, HND, or BSc in Banking and Finance, Economics, or a closely related field.
