Job Purpose

The Head of Risk Management is tasked with establishing, implementing, and overseeing an enterprise-wide risk management (ERM) framework. This framework must effectively identify, assess, mitigate, and monitor strategic, financial, operational, and compliance risks across the organization. The successful candidate will ensure the business operates sustainably within its defined risk appetite while facilitating strategic growth, regulatory adherence, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

The chosen leader will hold comprehensive oversight over the organization's risk landscape, with core duties including:

  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Designing, updating, and executing a robust, enterprise-wide risk management framework aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Proactively diagnosing emerging risks and establishing preventative internal controls to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Governance: Assuring complete alignment with national and international industry regulations, standards, and corporate governance codes.
  • Operational & Strategic Risk Oversight: Partnering with department heads to evaluate operational workflows, evaluate third-party risks, and assess the strategic impact of expansion plans.
  • Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Preparing comprehensive, data-driven risk reports for executive leadership and the Board of Directors, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Business Continuity & Crisis Management: Leading the formulation and simulation of disaster recovery, business continuity, and crisis management strategies.
  • Culture & Capability Development: Fostering a risk-aware culture across all organizational levels through structured training, engagement, and clear accountability policies.

Qualifications and Requirements

To succeed in this executive-level role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.
  • A Master’s Degree (MBA or equivalent) is considered an added advantage.
  • Highly respected professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CRM (Certified Risk Manager), PRM (Professional Risk Manager), or CFA are strongly preferred.
  • 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in risk management, with at least 5 years spent in a key leadership or managerial role.
  • Prior experience working within the manufacturing or pharmaceutical sector is highly desirable.
