The Opportunity: Financial Controller
As Financial Controller, you will be instrumental in upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and operational efficiency. You will lead critical financial functions, ensuring robust reporting, stringent controls, and strategic insights that empower executive decision-making and drive sustainable business growth. This role demands a leader who can not only manage complex financial operations but also foster a culture of continuous improvement and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Best-in-Class Financial Reporting: Produce accurate, timely, and IFRS-compliant monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, crucial for executive decision-making, regulatory compliance, and enhancing stakeholder confidence.
- Drive an Efficient Financial Close Process: Lead and optimize the financial close process to consistently meet reporting timelines, while simultaneously enhancing speed, accuracy, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strengthen Financial Governance & Internal Controls: Implement and maintain a robust internal control environment to safeguard organizational assets, minimize financial risk, and promote a culture of accountability and financial discipline.
- Ensure Regulatory & Audit Excellence: Guarantee full compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements, and deliver successful internal and external audit outcomes with minimal findings.
- Optimise Finance Systems & Automation: Maximise the effectiveness of financial systems and technologies by driving automation initiatives, improving data integrity, and significantly reducing manual processes across the finance function.
- Build a High-Performing Financial Control Team: Develop a capable, engaged, and high-performing team through effective leadership, performance management, coaching, and strategic succession planning.
- Provide Strategic Financial Insight: Deliver actionable financial analysis and business insights that support sound commercial decision-making, prudent capital investments, operational improvements, and sustainable business growth.
- Champion Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance financial processes, reporting standards, and governance practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
Qualifications for Success
To thrive in this role, you will possess a strong blend of academic achievement, professional certification, and extensive practical experience:
- Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is essential.
- Professional Certification: You must be a Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional certification). Experience with FMCG/Corporate Finance specialties is considered a distinct added advantage.
- Experience Profile:
- A minimum of 10 years' progressive experience in finance, financial reporting, or corporate accounting within a structured organization.
- At least 5 years' experience leading a Financial Control or Financial Reporting function.
- Prior experience within the Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, or Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) industries is highly preferred.
- Experience gained in a Big Four Audit/Assurance firm will be an added advantage.
