Role Overview
The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the organization. Working with minimal supervision, the Financial Accountant will oversee daily transactional activities, prepare key financial statements, ensure compliance with statutory tax obligations, and provide analytical insights to support strategic decision-making. High accuracy, independence, and a keen eye for detail are core attributes required for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
As the Financial Accountant, your day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Financial Record Keeping: Prepare, review, and maintain highly accurate financial records and reports in line with standard accounting principles.
- Daily Operations: Efficiently manage daily accounting tasks including invoicing, processing payments, and performing systematic bank reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to give leadership a clear picture of the company’s financial standing.
- Expense Management: Closely monitor company expenditures, ensure proper documentation, and resolve any transactional discrepancies promptly.
- Payroll and Tax Compliance: Support payroll processing and ensure timely statutory remittances. Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including VAT, PAYE, and other regulatory filings.
Requirements and Qualifications
To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on accounting experience, specifically within the real estate industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel. A strong understanding of basic tax laws and financial reporting standards is essential.
- Professional Certification: An active professional certification or progress towards ICAN/ACCA will be highly regarded and considered an added advantage.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, robust analytical capabilities, and the ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines.
