Role Overview
The Finance Assistant will play a vital role in the organization’s Finance Department. You will be responsible for maintaining precise financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring strict adherence to donor and organizational compliance standards. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in an environment requiring high levels of integrity, accuracy, and administrative excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing payments, reimbursements, and bank transfers while maintaining strict adherence to organizational policies.
- Managing payment vouchers and ensuring complete documentation for all financial transactions.
- Recording financial data, including Journal Entries and Payment Instructions, within the accounting software.
- Assisting with monthly bank reconciliations for both local and foreign currency accounts.
- Supporting payroll processing and the management of statutory remittances like Pension, PAYE, and VAT.
- Monitoring budget expenditures and providing technical support to the Finance Officer.
- Collaborating with program departments to ensure financial documentation meets Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: 2–3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and computerized accounting software.
- Compliance Knowledge: A solid understanding of GAAP and Nigerian tax/payroll laws.
- Professionalism: Evidence of ongoing professional certifications (ICAN, ANAN) is considered a significant advantage.
- Core Competencies: High integrity, strong analytical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a deep commitment to safeguarding and protection principles.
