Role Overview & Responsibilities
As an Accountant II, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the university. You will work within a dedicated team of finance professionals to manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring compliance with standard financial regulations and institutional guidelines. Key responsibilities typically include:
- Assisting in the preparation of university budgets, financial statements, and reports.
- Reconciling bank statements, student accounts, and managing accounts payable/receivable.
- Processing payroll and ensuring compliance with tax regulations and other statutory deductions.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting internal and external audit processes.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of robust internal control systems.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Academic Qualification: A good Honours degree (not below a Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting, Economics, or Finance from a recognized university, OR a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from a recognized institution.
- Professional Certification: A professional certification in Management will be considered an added advantage.
- National Service: Possession of an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is mandatory.
- Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in modern accounting software, high ethical standards, and excellent communication skills.
