About the Role
Our client is seeking an Accountant who can seamlessly handle daily financial operations, ensure flawless record-keeping, and support overall financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mind, a deep understanding of core accounting principles, and the ability to maintain robust financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
As the Accountant, your day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Financial Documentation: Maintain precise, up-to-date financial records and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
- Transaction Processing: Prepare and process crucial payments, invoices, receipts, and general journal entries.
- Reconciliations: Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure ledger accuracy.
- Ledger Management: Monitor accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), resolve general ledger discrepancies, and maintain the fixed asset register.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports, management accounts, and assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow monitoring.
- Audit & Compliance: Support external audit processes by preparing necessary financial schedules and documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of hands-on accounting experience. Previous experience working in the real estate, construction, or property management industry is highly advantageous.
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and standard accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Zoho Books, or similar tools.
- Tax & Compliance Knowledge: A solid understanding of bookkeeping, reconciliation, and practical knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and statutory compliance.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.
