The Opportunity: Accountant
We are seeking a highly analytical and strategically-minded Accountant to join our leadership support team at our Lagos Head Office. In this pivotal role, you will deliver essential financial, administrative, and strategic management counsel to our Executive Team. You will be instrumental in guiding high-impact business decisions, maintaining IFRS compliance, managing robust internal controls, and steering resource allocation to support our continuous expansion.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning & Strategic Counsel- Lead the annual budgeting and comprehensive financial planning processes.
- Analyze and determine the cost-effectiveness of current and prospective service delivery models.
- Offer strategic recommendations to Executive Management to optimize capital investments and resource deployment.
- Collaborate on business development initiatives by evaluating financial viability and risk profiles of new opportunities.
- Oversee all corporate financial and fiscal reporting in strict alignment with IFRS guidelines.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly business reports, balance sheets, and accurate cash flow forecasts.
- Manage end-of-month financial closing procedures and deliver daily cash position updates.
- Direct statutory reconciliations and ensure flawless compliance with national tax and pension authorities.
- Present clear and precise financial briefings during high-level management meetings.
- Implement and sustain rigorous internal control protocols to safeguard company assets.
- Supervise all banking operations, account reconciliations, fund lodgments, and salary disbursements.
- Execute analytical reviews of bank statements to maintain optimal liquidity and cash flow.
- Coordinate comprehensive internal audits and ensure an active, thoroughly tested disaster recovery plan is in place.
- Oversee the administration of corporate business insurance portfolios.
- Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, and oversee vendor reconciliation workflows.
- Ensure timely, accurate monthly invoicing to clients and maintain organized financial records.
- Coordinate payroll operations, execute thorough payroll audits, and verify statutory tax and pension deductions.
- Liaise cross-functionally with other departments to streamline financial data aggregation.
Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Professional Certification: Active professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is strictly mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of post-qualification accounting experience, with at least 5 years serving in a Managerial capacity.
- Industry Background: Direct experience within a security services provider or an outsourcing agency is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Exceptional capabilities in business management, statistical analysis, and sophisticated financial modeling.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced familiarity with specialized accounting software and expert-level mastery of the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
