The Opportunity: Your Role as an Account Assistant
As an Account Assistant at EMRC, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations. This comprehensive position offers a chance to engage with a broad spectrum of accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial insights. Your responsibilities will include:
- Financial Record Keeping: Accurately and promptly capture all income and expenses within our accounting system, maintaining the integrity, completeness, and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist in the preparation of key financial statements, including trial balance, income statement (P&L), balance sheet, and supporting schedules. You will also track and report on crucial business and financial performance metrics, offering valuable insights and recommendations.
- Revenue Management: Take charge of raising customer invoices, diligently tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances to ensure timely revenue collection.
- Expenditure & Procurement: Efficiently receive and verify supplier invoices, process payments, and meticulously monitor the company's liabilities to maintain healthy vendor relationships.
- Ledger Management: Keep the general ledger, cashbook, debtors, and creditors ledgers meticulously up to date.
- Month-End & Year-End Processes: Execute critical month-end and year-end journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, reconciliations, and adjusting entries.
- Cash Flow & Liquidity: Actively manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity planning to ensure the company's financial stability.
- Strategic Support: Provide essential support to the Head of Finance and Admin in preparing board-level and regulatory reports, including annual reports.
- Audit & Compliance: Liaise effectively with auditors during annual and interim audits, preparing all necessary schedules and supporting documentation.
- Tax & Statutory Compliance: Handle PAYE, VAT, WHT, Company Income Tax, and other tax-related matters to ensure full regulatory compliance. You will also process and remit Pensions and other statutory deductions promptly.
What We're Looking For: Your Profile
We are seeking a dedicated and talented individual who combines a strong academic foundation with practical experience and an unwavering commitment to excellence. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in accounting is essential. A professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAN) will be a significant advantage.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, demonstrating a clear trajectory of growth and responsibility.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or equivalent, and familiarity with ERP systems. Strong command of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, is crucial.
- Analytical Acumen: Excellent attention to detail, robust analytical skills, and strong problem-solving capabilities to tackle complex financial issues.
- Integrity & Ethics: Demonstrated commitment to ethical standards and a high level of integrity in all financial dealings.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to work cross-functionally and build collaborative relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
