The Role and Key Responsibilities

As a Grain Quality Inspector, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all incoming and outgoing agricultural commodities consistently meet the company's rigorous quality standards and regulatory benchmarks. This role requires on-site diligence, technical accuracy, and collaboration across supply chain departments.

Quality Assessments: Conduct thorough quality inspections on incoming and outgoing grains and agricultural commodities to ensure compliance with strict company and industrial standards.
Sampling & Testing: Collect representative samples using approved sampling techniques for laboratory and field analysis.
Scientific Evaluation: Determine moisture content, impurity levels, foreign matter, damaged grains, and other key quality parameters using state-of-the-art testing equipment.
Decision Making: Assess grain quality based on established grading standards and recommend the acceptance, conditional acceptance, or rejection of commodities.
Record Keeping: Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate quality records for all completed inspections.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with food safety, quality assurance, and legal regulatory standards during all inspection activities.
Storage Monitoring: Actively monitor storage conditions and identify factors that may compromise grain quality, including moisture fluctuations, pest infestation, contamination, and spoilage.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Partner closely with warehouse, procurement, logistics, and operations teams to resolve quality-related discrepancies swiftly.
Risk Management: Promptly report quality deviations, non-conformities, and potential management risks to the appropriate stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess a scientific mindset, deep technical expertise in grain handling, and strong observational skills. The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Agriculture, Food Science, Crop Science, Agricultural Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a closely related field.
Experience: A minimum of 2–4 years of active experience in grain inspection, quality assurance, commodity trading, or agricultural processing.
Technical Knowledge: Strong, practical knowledge of grain grading standards, moisture testing, sampling procedures, and quality control processes.
Equipment Proficiency: Hands-on experience using modern grain inspection and moisture testing equipment.
Industry Understanding: Good understanding of agricultural commodity handling, storage, and quality preservation techniques.
IT Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel and Word for data reporting and analysis.
