Utility Data Programmer Analyst
This role sounds like a fantastic opportunity for someone who genuinely loves digging into data to solve real-world problems. Imagine transforming complex information from electric, gas, and water utilities into clear, actionable insights that truly make a difference. If you're passionate about both utility operations and powerful data analytics, and you thrive on turning raw numbers into strategic knowledge, then Celerity Consulting Group wants to talk to you. This is your chance to play a pivotal role in ensuring critical infrastructure runs smoothly, all while working from anywhere in the world.
Overview
Celerity Consulting Group is seeking a talented Utility Data Programmer Analyst to contribute to our data-intensive electric, gas, and water utility projects. You will initially support a major electric utility asset-data validation program, and your contributions could extend to various engagements involving asset management, data quality, geographic information systems, regulatory compliance, operational analytics, and process improvement. We are looking for an individual who bridges the gap between understanding utility assets and operations with strong technical expertise in relational databases, SQL, data analysis, visualization, and data integration platforms. You will collaborate closely with project managers, utility subject matter experts, GIS professionals, engineers, and fellow data analysts, all focused on transforming intricate utility data into reliable, actionable information. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze extensive datasets originating from a variety of utility systems, including GIS, enterprise asset management, work management, inspection, maintenance, and other operational databases.
- Develop robust SQL queries, scripts, and repeatable workflows essential for extracting, joining, transforming, validating, and reconciling data from multiple disparate sources.
- Identify data quality issues, anomalies, and inconsistencies, then recommend and implement effective solutions to ensure data integrity and accuracy across all systems.
- Create and maintain documentation for data models, data flows, and data transformation processes, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and deliver insightful reports and dashboards that support decision-making.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of data quality frameworks and governance strategies for utility data assets.
Requirements
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Solid background in data analysis, data modeling, and experience utilizing data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with utility specific systems such as GIS (ArcGIS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), or Work Management systems is highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to develop scripting solutions for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving capabilities with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive independently in a fully remote work environment, managing priorities and delivering high-quality results.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
What You'll Gain
- The chance to make a tangible impact on critical infrastructure projects across the electric, gas, and water utility sectors.
- Work alongside a diverse team of experts, including engineers, GIS professionals, and seasoned data analysts.
- Significant professional growth in a highly specialized and in-demand field.
- Contribute directly to meaningful data quality improvements and operational efficiencies for our clients.
- The flexibility and autonomy of a fully remote, worldwide role.
