Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Accountant at Kalshi, you will be instrumental in navigating the complex financial landscape of a rapidly evolving financial market. Your core responsibilities will include ensuring our financial practices are sound, compliant, and supportive of our ambitious growth. You will often find yourself:

Providing expert technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, new products, and evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring adherence to GAAP and other relevant standards.
Developing and implementing robust accounting policies and procedures that support our innovative business model and rapid expansion.
Collaborating closely with various teams, including product development, legal, and engineering, to understand the financial implications of new initiatives and integrate accounting considerations from conception.
Leading the preparation of comprehensive financial statements and disclosures, ensuring accuracy and transparency for both internal and external stakeholders.
Managing and optimizing internal controls over financial reporting to maintain the highest standards of integrity and efficiency.
Supporting the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and resolving any accounting issues.
Researching emerging accounting literature and industry best practices to proactively address potential impacts on Kalshi's financial operations.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you'll need a combination of deep technical expertise, keen analytical skills, and a proactive, problem solving mindset. We are looking for someone who brings:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
A current CPA license or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
At least 5+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting or a related role, ideally within the financial services, fintech, or a fast growing technology company.
Demonstrated expertise in U.S. GAAP, with a strong understanding of complex accounting areas such as revenue recognition, derivatives, and financial instruments.
Proven ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance to novel business transactions and operational scenarios.
Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling you to clearly articulate complex accounting concepts to both financial and non financial audiences.
The ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic, remote work environment.
