Overview

Our Android application is a true leader, holding the top spot in the Play Store for text-to-speech. Its user base is expanding at an incredible pace, outstripping our current development approach. We're searching for a dedicated Team Lead to take full ownership of our core product initiatives. This role involves not only driving significant feature development but also transforming how our team collaborates and delivers outstanding results for our rapidly growing community.

Key Responsibilities

Drive Core Product Development: Lead the end-to-end development of critical new features and enhancements for the Speechify Android app, ensuring a seamless and high-quality user experience.
Architectural Vision: Guide the technical direction and architecture of the Android platform, advocating for best practices and scalable solutions.
Team Leadership & Mentorship: Inspire, mentor, and grow a talented team of Android engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Process Enhancement: Identify and implement improvements in our development workflows, coding standards, and release processes to increase efficiency and quality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications and deliver impactful features.
Quality Assurance: Champion robust testing strategies and uphold high standards for code quality, performance, and reliability across the application.
Strategic Planning: Contribute to the long-term roadmap and strategic vision for the Android product, aligning technical efforts with business goals.

Requirements

Extensive experience in native Android application development, demonstrating a track record of shipping successful, user-facing products.
Proven experience in a team leadership or senior engineering role, with a passion for mentoring and developing engineers.
Deep expertise in Kotlin and the Android SDK, including modern Android architectural components and best practices.
Strong understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture principles, and UI/UX best practices for Android.
Experience working with RESTful APIs, third-party libraries, and cloud services.
Ability to thrive in a fully remote, distributed work environment and communicate effectively across time zones.
A strong problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
