Job Summary

To support this mission of sustainable and inclusive growth, Dangote Group is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Sustainability Manager. This role directly supports the Head of Sustainability in developing and establishing standards that embed sustainability and integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across the business operations.

Key areas of focus include:

• Clear articulation of ESG KPIs and targets.
• Collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders to communicate ESG developments.
• Continuous improvement of sustainability initiatives through precise tracking, documentation, and measurement of ESG KPIs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will lead and support various sustainability initiatives across the business:

• Performance Tracking: Work closely with diverse functions and plant operations to execute sustainability performance enhancement goals and targets, ensuring progress is effectively monitored and measured.
• Strategy Development: Set short, medium, and long-term sustainability targets for the company, including strategies for environmentally friendly products/services, social responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
• Advocacy & Promotion: Promote the organization’s core sustainability philosophy to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Plan and execute stakeholder engagements, conduct materiality assessments, and generate actionable reports and response plans.
• Sustainability Reporting: Coordinate the development of comprehensive sustainability reports and certifications in accordance with leading global reporting frameworks, including the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS S1 and S2), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), and CDP.
• Campaign Management: Manage the implementation of impactful sustainability campaigns and ESG initiatives.
• Capacity Building: Coordinate Sustainability Leads and champions across various plants, supporting their capacity building and performance target delivery.
• Policy Operationalization: Support the execution of the organization's sustainability approach/policy across all business operations through internal and external training, workshops, and development initiatives.

Key Requirements

To be considered for this high-impact managerial role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related field.
• An advanced degree in a sustainability-related field is highly desirable.

Work Experience:

• Must have a minimum of 10 years of proven experience in a Corporate Sustainability function within a large organization, preferably a multinational setting.
• At least 3 years of experience in Sustainability Reporting utilizing globally recognized standards.
• Strong skills in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and advanced internet research.
• Demonstrated teamwork and interpersonal skills, with an openness to new ideas and a willingness to explore innovative approaches.

Skills and Competencies:

• Results-oriented with a strong inclination toward quantitative research.
• Proficient in data analysis and data visualization.
• Strong negotiation, advocacy, and change management skills.
• Experience executing environmental and social performance management frameworks in large, diversified business operations.
• Proven experience in sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) project management.
