The Consumer Revenue organization is central to our mission, ensuring we build a sustainable business around this dynamic community. We are seeking a Staff Engineer to join teams working across premium experiences and core user identity. You will be instrumental in shaping the technical strategy that ties everything together. Your work will span critical surfaces like Nitro, Shop, Server Boosting, and User Identity, aiming to build a premium Discord that truly delivers value to subscribers, all while preserving the exceptional core experience for our free users. This is a full-stack product engineering role, involving deep collaboration with Product, Data Science, Design, Marketing, and other functions to create best-in-class consumer experiences. Your contributions will cover the full technical stack, from backend data modeling and business logic in APIs to polished user interfaces. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

Drive the technical strategy and roadmap for key premium consumer revenue products, ensuring alignment with business goals and user value.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex full-stack features across our core revenue surfaces including Nitro, Shop, Server Boosting, and user identity systems.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and marketing specialists to translate product vision into robust and scalable technical solutions.
Champion best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, performance, and maintainability.
Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.
Identify and address critical technical challenges, making architectural decisions that ensure the long-term health and scalability of our systems.
Contribute to the overall engineering culture at Discord, participating in design reviews, sharing knowledge, and improving our development processes.

Requirements

You have 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a significant portion in a Staff or equivalent senior leadership role.
Demonstrated expertise in full-stack development, comfortable working across backend services, APIs, and modern frontend frameworks.
Proven track record of leading complex technical projects from conception through to production, delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
Strong architectural design skills and a deep understanding of distributed systems, data modeling, and performance optimization.
Excellent communication skills, capable of clearly articulating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including product, design, and data science.
A passion for building engaging consumer experiences and a strong understanding of user-centric design principles.
You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment and adapting to new challenges.
