Key Responsibilities
- Architect and Design: Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, secure, and performant database solutions for our cutting-edge platform.
- Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, analyze, and optimize database performance to ensure maximum efficiency and responsiveness.
- Reliability and Resilience: Implement robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, ensuring high availability and data integrity for critical systems.
- Security Best Practices: Enforce and audit database security protocols, protecting sensitive information and adhering to compliance standards across all environments.
- Automation and Tooling: Develop and deploy automation scripts and tools to streamline database operations, deployments, and maintenance tasks within a collaborative DevOps framework.
- Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with engineering, DevOps, and product teams, providing expert guidance and mentoring junior DBAs when appropriate.
- Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert support for complex database issues, resolving incidents swiftly and effectively to maintain operational excellence.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Staff DBA or a similar senior database role, demonstrating a deep understanding of database management and architecture.
- Proven expertise with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases, for instance MongoDB, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch, is highly advantageous for this role.
- Strong background in cloud database services, particularly AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or Google Cloud SQL.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash for automation initiatives.
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles and experience integrating database operations into CI/CD pipelines.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving complex database challenges effectively.
