Overview
We are searching for a highly skilled Staff Analytics Engineer to serve as the most senior individual contributor on Tango's Analytics Engineering team. In this pivotal role, you will be the hands-on technical anchor for the modern analytics foundation we are meticulously constructing. You will be responsible for designing and building our governed semantic layer, the expertly curated data models within our Redshift warehouse, and the robust, Omni-based analytics relied upon by both our valued customers and our internal teams. This position is absolutely central to our company's analytics transformation, moving us beyond traditional, bespoke reporting to a scalable, powerful, and unified data platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain the core data models and pipelines that power our analytics, focusing on scalability, accuracy, and performance.
- Design and implement a comprehensive, governed semantic layer, ensuring consistent metric definitions and data interpretation across the organization.
- Be prolifically hands-on, writing complex SQL models, defining critical business metrics, and establishing the technical patterns and best practices that the rest of the team will adopt and build upon.
- Drive the adoption of modern analytics engineering principles, tools, and methodologies within the team and across Tango.
- Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into robust analytics solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensure the highest standards of data quality, governance, and security across all analytics assets.
Requirements
- Extensive experience, typically 7+ years, in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a highly related senior data role.
- Deep expertise in data warehousing concepts and hands-on experience with cloud data platforms, specifically Amazon Redshift.
- Exceptional proficiency in SQL for complex data manipulation, modeling, and optimization.
- Proven track record of designing, building, and maintaining robust data models and semantic layers.
- Experience with modern analytics tools and platforms; familiarity with Omni is a significant advantage.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and metadata management principles.
- Ability to define technical standards, advocate for best practices, and lead significant technical initiatives independently.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and collaborating effectively across teams.
