As a Senior Software Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in evolving iHerb's product catalog, a foundational platform critical to our global e-commerce success. This position involves working across the entire application stack, from powerful backend services primarily built with .NET/C# to engaging React frontends, all while interacting with robust relational data layers. We embrace modern technologies and practices, including the use of AI-driven SDLC tools, to streamline our development process. This is a fully remote position, offering you the flexibility to contribute from anywhere in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and ship complete catalog features, taking ownership from API design and business logic all the way through to data model creation and the user interface developed in React.
- Actively utilize AI-driven SDLC tooling, such as Claude Code, integrating it into your daily workflow for tasks like code generation, translating specifications into code, and automated test creation.
- Contribute significantly to the catalog modernization initiative, developing new stack components in parallel with maintaining and improving the existing platform.
- Write and maintain comprehensive automated tests, ensuring quality is a fundamental part of the development process rather than an afterthought.
- Participate in thorough pull request reviews, uphold high code standards, and contribute improvements to our established best practices.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to refine specifications both before and during the implementation phases.
- Instrument services with essential logging, metrics, and alerts. You will also participate in an on-call rotation and take ownership of incident response for catalog services.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Software Engineer, with a strong background in building and shipping large-scale, business-critical applications.
- Proficiency in backend development using .NET/C#. Familiarity with other languages like Go, Python, or Java is a plus, showing versatility.
- Solid experience with frontend development, particularly with React.
- Deep understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work across the full stack, from database to UI.
- Experience with modern software development lifecycle practices, including automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
- Proven ability to design APIs, implement complex business logic, and manage data effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system design and improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for working with cross-functional teams.
