The Role: Solar Installer (Junior Level Engineer)
As a Solar Installer / Junior Level Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the design, installation, maintenance, and technical optimization of solar and power backup systems. This is a field-oriented role that offers the opportunity to travel, execute diverse projects, and work with sophisticated technologies including Solar PV systems, industrial UPS brands, and Servo Stabilizers.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of technical and project coordination duties, including:
- System Installation & Maintenance: Lead the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Solar PV systems, inverters, batteries, charge controllers, Numeric UPS, other major UPS brands (up to 200kVA), and Servo Stabilizers (up to 500kVA).
- Electrical Engineering Tasks: Handle solar panel mounting, DC/AC wiring, battery bank configuration, electrical cabling, and low-voltage (LV) electrical panels.
- Surveys & Assessments: Conduct comprehensive site surveys, load assessments, and prepare detailed technical specifications aligned with contract requirements.
- Project Supervision: Implement, coordinate, and supervise residential, commercial, and industrial solar projects, ensuring safety standards, deadlines, and quality guidelines are met.
- Technical Support: Provide stellar customer service, technical troubleshooting, and after-sales support to clients on-site.
- Field Service & Reporting: Travel extensively across project locations to execute duties. Maintain and update service reports, ensure Job Completion Certificates (JCCs) are signed by clients, and submit weekly logs to Lagos Headquarters.
- Mentorship & Training: Train and guide junior technicians and team members on installation safety, technical troubleshooting, and UPS maintenance best practices.
Requirements and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Must possess a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a closely related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in solar installation, power electronics, or electrical engineering.
- Technical Competency: Solid knowledge of Solar PV systems, UPS systems, industrial battery configurations, and electrical wiring.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work as a Field Service Engineer and travel extensively for project execution.
- Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, leadership potential, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
