Currently, Dangote Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated Shift Engineer - Mechanical (6000TCD Mill Operation) to join its team at the SSC P-Numan facility.

About the Role

The Shift Engineer (Mechanical) is accountable for the efficient operation and maintenance of the 6000 TCD milling section. This crucial role ensures optimal performance, operational reliability, team discipline, and strict adherence to design parameters, safety standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). As the Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for leading your shift to successfully achieve the targeted crushing rates and overall operational efficiency.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mill Operation & Maintenance: Oversee the continuous, smooth, and efficient operation of the milling plant during assigned shifts.
  • Parameter Control: Monitor and control critical milling parameters including bagasse moisture, extraction percentage, and other key operational indicators.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Plan, coordinate, and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Repairs & Replacements: Ensure timely repairs and replacement of mill components to secure production continuity.
  • Team Leadership: Maintain strict personnel discipline and monitor the performance of operating and maintenance staff on your shift.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Coordinate actively with the electrical, instrumentation, and boiler sections for the seamless operation of auxiliary systems.
  • Safety & Compliance: Implement and monitor robust safety practices, ensuring complete compliance with statutory and company safety standards.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and comprehensive reports regarding mill operations, downtime, and maintenance activities.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with the stores and procurement teams to ensure the availability of critical spares and operational consumables.
  • Mentorship & Training: Provide hands-on technical guidance and on-the-job training to subordinates to enhance skills and improve collective performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Liaise closely with process and quality control departments to guarantee optimal juice extraction and sugar recovery.
  • Strategic Support: Assist management in planning annual overhauls, project upgrades, and capacity enhancement initiatives.

Educational Qualifications & Work Experience

  • Education: Must hold a minimum of a B-Tech, BE, BSc, or HND in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Certification: Must be registered with COREN, NSE, or possess an equivalent recognized professional engineering qualification.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in mill operation and maintenance, specifically within a sugar refinery or a similar heavy process industry.
