Purpose of the Role

As a Sheet Metallist, your primary purpose will be to execute cost-effective and highly efficient sheet metal fabrication activities within our workshop. You will be instrumental in producing essential metal parts required for new installations and crucial maintenance work across our plants, contributing directly to the operational integrity and efficiency of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities (The Job)

In this vital role, you will be expected to:

Design and develop sheet metal related fabrications precisely according to specifications, always adhering to stringent safety rules and protocols.
Perform regular cleaning and lubrication of machines and tools within the sheet metal workshop to ensure smooth operation and longevity.
Diligently study relevant documentation, including sample parts, blueprints, and technical drawings, to accurately determine the optimal method and sequence of operations for product fabrication.
Execute necessary measurements and calculations with precision to ensure accurate and high-quality fabrication of sheet metal components.
Estimate and plan the materials required for individual fabrication jobs and initiate timely requisitions for procurement.
Champion the cost-effective use of materials, actively working to minimize wastage and optimize resource utilization.
Carry out skilled repair work on damaged components within the plants, ensuring quick and effective restoration of functionality.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

A minimum of five (5) O-Level credits, including Mathematics and English Language, or NABTEB, or a Trade Test Grade.
NABTEB / City & Guilds (C&G) certification in a related technical discipline.

Experience

A successful candidate will have:

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass metal cutting and shaping, blueprint and technical drawing interpretation, structural steel fabrication, machine operation and maintenance, metal forming and bending, and both stainless steel and aluminum fabrication.
