As a Senior Software Engineer on our Workflow Squad, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and operating product capabilities that help Cloudbeds support increasingly complex hospitality operations. This position is primarily a backend product engineering role, involving work in PHP and Java across services, APIs, data systems, and event-driven architectures. You will also have opportunities for occasional frontend contributions, adding breadth to your technical experience.

Key Responsibilities

Take full ownership of work, from technical design and conception through to deployment and operation, ensuring high quality and impactful solutions.
Design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems using PHP and Java, contributing to services, APIs, data processing, and event-driven architectures.
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver innovative features.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions, helping shape the future direction of Cloudbeds' platform.
Ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our systems through rigorous testing, monitoring, and proactive problem-solving.
Occasionally contribute to frontend development, broadening your skill set and supporting holistic product delivery.

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development.
Proficiency in PHP and Java is essential, along with a solid understanding of object-oriented design principles.
Demonstrated experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working in a fully remote, global team environment.
