As a Senior Software Engineer on this team, you will design, build, and optimize the distributed storage solutions essential for Reddit's continued growth and stability. Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed storage systems that power Reddit's core services.
Lead technical projects from conception to deployment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver robust solutions.
Optimize existing storage infrastructure for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and fault tolerance, ensuring seamless operation at Reddit's massive scale.
Mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and contributing to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, participating in on-call rotations to support critical systems.

Requirements

You have extensive experience, typically 5+ years, in software development, with a significant focus on building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
You possess strong proficiency in at least one of these programming languages: Go, Java, Python, or C++.
Your expertise includes designing, implementing, and maintaining high-performance, fault-tolerant storage systems.
You have a deep understanding of distributed system concepts, including consistency models, consensus algorithms, and fault tolerance.
Experience with key-value stores, distributed caches, or other NoSQL databases is essential.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly valued.
