Overview

Datadog is on the hunt for a Senior Software Engineer to significantly advance REDAPL, our core platform for monitoring customer infrastructure resources and their intricate relationships. REDAPL empowers a suite of Datadog products, including Cloud Security Posture Management, Resource Catalog, and Cloud Cost Management, by ingesting over 4.5 million updates per second. You will play a crucial role in enhancing a platform that is central to how our customers understand, track, and gain actionable insights into their complex environments. As a Senior Engineer, you will drive technical decisions and lead projects within and beyond the platform, making a tangible impact on our data ingestion, processing, and query pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement a high-performance query engine capable of efficient relationship traversals for critical workloads.
Drive and lead key technical projects, collaborating across teams to enhance REDAPL's capabilities.
Contribute to architectural decisions for our vast data ingestion, processing, and query pipelines.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of the REDAPL platform handling millions of updates per second.
Collaborate with product managers and other engineering teams to define requirements and deliver impactful solutions.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience as a Senior Software Engineer working with large-scale distributed systems.
Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, Java, Python, or Ruby.
Experience designing and building high-performance data processing or query engines.
Familiarity with graph databases or concepts of relational data modeling at scale is a significant plus.
Understanding of data streaming technologies like Kafka and distributed databases.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead complex technical initiatives.
Effective communication and collaboration skills in a remote team environment.
