The Opportunity: Senior Plant Operator

As a Senior Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of vital infrastructure that supports our groundbreaking research. This position requires a proactive, skilled individual capable of managing complex mechanical systems and performing essential maintenance tasks. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to maintaining a conducive environment for innovation and discovery.

Key Responsibilities: What You'll Do

Operate and manage the central air-conditioner chiller system on a rotational night/day shift, ensuring optimal performance.
Execute routine maintenance, daily checks, and respond promptly to urgent repairs of large condenser and chiller pumps.
Perform comprehensive servicing and necessary repairs on cooling towers.
Diligently monitor critical system parameters, including temperature, pressure, flow rates, and energy consumption, to ensure efficiency and identify potential issues.
Provide essential support in the installation of air conditioners and the ongoing maintenance of cold refrigerators, water coolers, and similar equipment.
Maintain meticulous records of daily operational data for central air conditioning chillers.
Undertake any other job-related duties as assigned by your supervisor, contributing to the overall operational excellence of the institute.

Who We're Looking For: Your Profile

We are seeking candidates with a robust background in mechanical operations and a commitment to excellence. To be successful in this role, you will need:

A minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering, a Trade Test Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing similar functions within a structured organization.

Essential Competencies:

A comprehensive understanding of various chiller types (air-cooled, water-cooled).
Familiarity with the components and operation of compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling towers, and pumps.
A solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.
Proven ability to safely start up, operate, and shut down chiller systems.
Knowledge of VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and inverter systems will be considered a significant advantage.
