The Opportunity: Senior Plant Operator
As a Senior Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of vital infrastructure that supports our groundbreaking research. This position requires a proactive, skilled individual capable of managing complex mechanical systems and performing essential maintenance tasks. You will be an integral part of a team dedicated to maintaining a conducive environment for innovation and discovery.
Key Responsibilities: What You'll Do
- Operate and manage the central air-conditioner chiller system on a rotational night/day shift, ensuring optimal performance.
- Execute routine maintenance, daily checks, and respond promptly to urgent repairs of large condenser and chiller pumps.
- Perform comprehensive servicing and necessary repairs on cooling towers.
- Diligently monitor critical system parameters, including temperature, pressure, flow rates, and energy consumption, to ensure efficiency and identify potential issues.
- Provide essential support in the installation of air conditioners and the ongoing maintenance of cold refrigerators, water coolers, and similar equipment.
- Maintain meticulous records of daily operational data for central air conditioning chillers.
- Undertake any other job-related duties as assigned by your supervisor, contributing to the overall operational excellence of the institute.
Who We're Looking For: Your Profile
We are seeking candidates with a robust background in mechanical operations and a commitment to excellence. To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering, a Trade Test Certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience performing similar functions within a structured organization.
Essential Competencies:
- A comprehensive understanding of various chiller types (air-cooled, water-cooled).
- Familiarity with the components and operation of compressors, evaporators, condensers, cooling towers, and pumps.
- A solid understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.
- Proven ability to safely start up, operate, and shut down chiller systems.
- Knowledge of VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) and inverter systems will be considered a significant advantage.
