The Role: Senior Miller - Ikorodu

Are you a seasoned milling professional looking to elevate your career with a global market leader? Olam Agri is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Miller to join its operational team in Ikorodu, Lagos. In this critical role, you will be responsible for managing daily milling operations to ensure optimal plant efficiency, consistent product quality, and highly cost-effective production.

As a Senior Miller, you will oversee milling processes, troubleshoot technical issues, coordinate maintenance activities, and champion safety, hygiene, and quality standards. This role also presents a fantastic opportunity to lead and mentor dedicated milling teams, manage spare parts and materials, and implement industry best practices to drive operational excellence and company profitability.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will take charge of several vital operational functions, including:

Operational Excellence: Manage and execute daily production plans, monitor process performance, and maximize overall plant throughput and milling efficiency.
Quality Control: Maintain stellar product quality and precise extraction levels according to defined standard operating procedures.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve milling issues rapidly while coordinating maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
Reporting & Tracking: Maintain comprehensive daily production and shift reports, meticulously tracking key metrics and equipment downtime.
Compliance & Safety: Strict adherence to occupational safety, hygiene, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Quality Management Systems (QMS), Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS), and 5S workplace organizational methodologies.
Cost Optimization: Minimize production waste, actively reduce process losses, and control departmental operational and overhead costs.
Leadership: Lead, inspire, and train milling teams to build a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Facility Management: Supervise external vendor services (cleaning, waste disposal, maintenance) and ensure the pristine upkeep of plant premises, including yard and perimeter areas.

Job Requirements

To succeed in this high-impact position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Food Science. A NABIMS certification or a Diploma in Milling from a recognized milling institution is highly preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 4+ years of hands-on, practical experience in wheat milling operations (flour/feed products).
Operational Leadership: Proven track record of managing independent plant operations and leading multi-disciplinary, multicultural teams.
Technical Mastery: Comprehensive knowledge of modern wheat milling systems, technical processes, equipment, and preventative maintenance coordination.
Core Competencies: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication, and collaborative relationship-building skills.
