Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer, Compute Platform

Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer, Compute Platform

Overview

Managing twenty five enterprise scheduler clusters manually is an absolute recipe for operational chaos. At NVIDIA, we run enormous EDA compute platforms that power world changing silicon, and continuing to babysit scheduler cells by hand simply will not cut it. We are stepping up to replace fragile, manual routines with a unified config as code foundation, and we want a senior automation engineer to own the journey from start to finish. You will not be staring at an empty repository pretending legacy systems do not exist. Instead, you get the far more rewarding engineering puzzle of untangling partial implementations, fixing configuration drift across federated estates, and bringing true software rigor to massive compute resources. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity that lets you solve deeply technical problems from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

Your day to day focus centers on automating complex platforms and building lasting infrastructure patterns. You will tackle several core initiatives.

  • Design and manage the configuration schema for LSF cell deployments so that any policy update is written once, peer reviewed in code, tested, and distributed reliably.
  • Architect and maintain the deployment pipeline that carries scheduler configurations from Git merge into production across our federated fleet with canary rollouts and zero drama rollbacks.
  • Hunt down configuration drift across existing cells, building automated detection and remediation tooling that keeps configurations strictly aligned.
  • Establish a robust regression testing suite so our teams can schedule routine LSF upgrades with total confidence instead of treating them like high stakes gambles.
  • Work shoulder to shoulder with our scheduler internals engineers to capture tribal knowledge and translate it into clear declarative templates.

Requirements

We care most about your ability to build rock solid automation for large scale distributed platforms. Ideal candidates bring a strong background in several key areas.

  • Deep practical experience designing automation workflows and configuration pipelines for enterprise scale Linux systems.
  • Hands on familiarity with workload orchestrators, distributed schedulers, or high performance computing tools such as IBM Spectrum LSF.
  • Strong background in declarative configuration practices using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or internal code driven engines.
  • Proficiency in modern scripting languages such as Python or Go to build custom validation and synchronization tooling.
  • A pragmatic engineering mindset that knows how to reconcile existing messy production environments rather than demanding a greenfield start.
  • Clear communication skills and the autonomy needed to collaborate seamlessly with colleagues across distributed time zones.

What You Will Gain

This role offers the chance to directly influence the developer platform behind groundbreaking artificial intelligence and graphics hardware. You will work alongside top tier systems engineers who value clean architecture and sustainable operations over quick hacks. Because this position is 100% remote across the globe, you get the freedom to do your best work wherever you thrive, supported by industry leading compensation, rich benefits, and an environment that celebrates technical mastery.
