Advance Global Impact as a (Senior) Director of Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MLE)
Evidence Action, an organization dedicated to scaling evidence-based programs that improve millions of lives, is seeking a visionary (Senior) Director of Global Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MLE). Since its inception in 2013, Evidence Action has pioneered sustainable, high-impact models, managing vital initiatives like Dispensers for Safe Water and the Deworm the World Initiative.
As the leader of our MLE function, you will be the driving force behind our data-driven culture. This role is not merely administrative; it is a critical leadership position that requires deep technical expertise, strategic foresight, and the ability to navigate a complex, matrixed global organization. You will ensure that our evaluation systems meet the highest standards of rigor, directly influencing how we select and scale interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the evolution of our MLE strategy, ensuring our systems and structures scale alongside our program portfolio. You will quantitatively model potential outcomes, stress-test hypotheses, and champion the use of AI and advanced data analytics to improve operational efficiency.
- Team Development: Provide functional and technical supervision to a global team. You will foster a culture of high performance, mentorship, and professional growth, ensuring your team has the resources and guidance to succeed.
- Organizational Influence: Act as a bridge between data and decision-making. You will work closely with the Global Leadership Team (GLT) to identify high-value questions and ensure that MLE findings inform every stage of the program lifecycle.
- External Representation: Serve as a senior thought leader, representing Evidence Action to board members, donors, government partners, and peer organizations to maintain our external credibility and impact.
Who You Are
We are looking for a seasoned professional with at least 10 years of progressive experience in MLE, specifically within global health or international development. You bring a unique blend of technical mastery—likely backed by a PhD or equivalent in economics, statistics, or public health—and the "impatient optimism" required to solve complex problems in resource-constrained environments.
You are an "Engine 2" thinker: comfortable managing today’s operational challenges while simultaneously innovating for tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Your interpersonal sophistication allows you to create alignment across diverse teams and communicate effectively with both technical specialists and non-technical stakeholders.
Why Join Evidence Action?
This is an opportunity to hold an exceptionally high bar for technical rigor at an organization where data is the heartbeat of every decision. If you are passionate about transforming the global development landscape through evidence and are ready to take on a role that combines intellectual challenge with tangible, life-saving impact, we want to hear from you.
