Overview

Sezzle is looking for a technically sharp, hands-on Senior Database Reliability Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity where you’ll play a pivotal role in designing, building, and scaling the database platform that underpins all of Sezzle’s applications. You'll contribute to a system that processes millions of transactions, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and performant database systems.
Develop and enforce best practices for database operations, security, and data integrity.
Automate database tasks, monitoring, and recovery processes.
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and troubleshooting for complex database issues.
Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize application queries and database schema designs.
Lead efforts in disaster recovery planning and execution.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

Extensive experience as a Database Reliability Engineer, SRE, or similar role with a strong focus on database systems.
Proven expertise in designing and managing large-scale, highly available production databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL solutions).
Deep understanding of database internals, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and database services.
Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to system reliability.
Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a remote work environment.
