As a Senior Backend Software Engineer on our GRaF (Grading and Feedback) team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing the core systems that drive our educational impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance backend services for the GRaF platform.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using modern programming languages and frameworks.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, frontend developers, and QA engineers to define, build, and ship new features and improvements.
- Ensure the reliability, security, and operational excellence of our production systems.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and upholding high engineering standards.
- Contribute to the evolution of our system architecture, making informed decisions on technology choices and design patterns.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language like Python, Java, Node.js, or Go.
- Proven experience designing and building scalable applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Expertise in working with various database technologies, including both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a knack for tackling complex technical challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively within a team.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
