As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing our core reliability platform, directly influencing product direction and resolving significant technical hurdles for our diverse customer base, which ranges from Fortune 500 giants to innovative startups.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend services central to the Gremlin Reliability Platform.
Craft and refine innovative Chaos Engineering tooling that enables customers to proactively identify and address system vulnerabilities.
Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers, contributing your expertise to architectural decisions and feature roadmaps.
Lead efforts in ensuring the quality, performance, and operational excellence of our backend infrastructure.
Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning within the team.
Participate in on-call rotations, ensuring the smooth operation and swift resolution of any platform issues.
Drive continuous improvement in our development processes and tools, optimizing for efficiency and developer experience.

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, building and scaling distributed systems.
Strong proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, Python, Java, or Node.js.
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing robust APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
Experience with various database technologies, both relational and NoSQL.
A track record of solving complex technical problems with elegant, maintainable solutions.
Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
A genuine passion for system reliability, performance, and the principles of Chaos Engineering.
