Overview

Spotter Labs is searching for an exceptional Senior Accountant to become a foundational member of our finance team. While our current team expertly manages daily transactional processing and bookkeeping, we now require a senior-level technical expert to anchor our accounting function during this period of intense growth. Your primary focus will shift from high-volume transactional work towards providing essential accounting judgment, rigorous review capabilities, and critical control structures. We need your expertise to guarantee technical accuracy, maintain audit readiness, and bridge the operational gap to high-level strategic financial oversight. Key Responsibilities & Challenges to Solve

Technical GAAP & Specialized Accounting Leadership: You will serve as a key resource for complex accounting matters, ensuring all practices align perfectly with US GAAP. This involves meticulous review of significant transactions, policy application, and financial statement disclosures.
Fixed Assets & Capitalization Mastery: Take the lead on all aspects of Property, Plant, and Equipment (PPE) accounting. This includes refining and rigorously enforcing capitalization policies, managing asset disposals with precision, evaluating impairment considerations, and ensuring our fixed asset register is maintained flawlessly and is always audit-ready.
Rigorous Technical GAAP Review: Critically review and validate complex accounting entries, reconciliations, and financial reports. Your sharp judgment will ensure all financial data adheres to the highest standards of technical accuracy and compliance.
Controllership Support & Process Enhancement: Work closely with leadership to develop, implement, and refine internal control procedures, enhancing the overall integrity and efficiency of our financial operations. Your insights will be vital for ongoing process improvement initiatives.
Audit & Software Migration Acumen: Play a central role in our active audit process, providing necessary documentation and explanations. You will also contribute significantly to our major software migration, helping to ensure smooth transitions and accurate data integration.
Cross-functional Partnership: Collaborate effectively with various departments and leadership, translating complex accounting principles into actionable insights and supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements

Extensive professional experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar leadership accounting role, demonstrating a deep understanding of complex financial environments.
Robust, proven expertise in US GAAP, including hands-on experience applying technical accounting principles to real-world scenarios.
Significant controllership experience, encompassing strong internal controls, financial reporting, and operational finance management.
Demonstrated ability to exercise sound accounting judgment and provide clear, well-reasoned analyses.
Experience supporting external audits, with a solid understanding of auditor requirements and the ability to prepare audit-ready documentation.
Proven track record participating in or leading aspects of accounting software implementations or migrations.
Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with both technical teams and senior leadership.
