We're looking for a visionary Security Software Engineer specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM) to join our dynamic Security team. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity where you will take complete ownership of Vercel's IAM strategy for both corporate and production environments. You won't just maintain; you'll define the architecture from scratch, lead a crucial migration of Okta fully behind Terraform, and become the definitive subject matter expert, elevating our entire organization's understanding and implementation of security. Key Responsibilities

Take complete ownership of Vercel's comprehensive Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategy across all corporate and production environments, ensuring robust security and seamless developer experience.
Architect, design, and implement new IAM solutions and frameworks from the foundational level, aligning with Vercel's evolving infrastructure and security needs.
Lead and execute the migration of existing Okta configurations to be fully managed by Terraform, enhancing automation, auditability, and infrastructure as code principles.
Serve as the primary subject matter expert for IAM within Vercel, providing guidance, mentorship, and training to engineering teams and other stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with various engineering teams to integrate IAM best practices into product development lifecycles and operational workflows.
Proactively identify security vulnerabilities and risks related to identity and access, proposing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and threats in the IAM and broader cybersecurity landscape to continuously enhance Vercel's security posture.

Requirements

Several years of dedicated experience in security engineering, with a significant focus on Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems and strategies.
Proven track record of designing, implementing, and managing IAM architectures in complex, fast-paced environments.
Deep expertise with modern IAM platforms such as Okta, and a strong understanding of their integration and automation capabilities.
Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools, particularly Terraform, for managing and automating cloud infrastructure and security configurations.
Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Go, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript) for automation and tool development.
Strong understanding of cloud security principles, secure development lifecycles, and common authentication/authorization protocols (e.g., OAuth, OIDC, SAML).
Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex security concepts to diverse audiences and collaborating effectively across teams.
Ability to thrive in a high-ownership, self-directed role, driving projects from conception to completion with minimal supervision.
