You will combine hands-on technical development with vital customer-facing responsibilities, engaging directly with internal Carey stakeholders. Your ability to scope and prioritize enhancement needs, then clearly articulate technical options to non-technical audiences, will be paramount. This position fosters close collaboration with central University Salesforce teams and reports directly to the Director of Software and IT Services.

Key Responsibilities

Expect to dive into a range of essential duties, including:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing custom Salesforce solutions using Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components, and other platform technologies.
  • Managing and maintaining existing Salesforce applications and integrations to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Overseeing platform administration tasks, including security settings, user management, data integrity, and configuration.
  • Collaborating closely with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate complex business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Providing expert analysis techniques and procedures to resolve system issues and implement robust, scalable solutions.
  • Conducting thorough testing of new and upgraded applications, whether custom-built or package installations, to ensure functionality and user satisfaction.
  • Documenting technical designs, processes, and user guides to maintain a comprehensive knowledge base for the Salesforce environment.
  • Offering production support and troubleshooting for critical system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Contributing to the strategic planning and evolution of the Salesforce platform within the Carey Business School, aligning with university-wide standards.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Significant professional experience in Salesforce development, including extensive work with Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Proven expertise in Salesforce platform administration, covering configuration, security, data management, and release management.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and translate complex business requirements into actionable technical solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse, non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of tackling intricate system challenges independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with Salesforce integrations (REST/SOAP APIs) and data migration strategies.
  • A solid understanding of Salesforce best practices, Governor Limits, and secure coding principles.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Relevant Salesforce certifications (e.g., Platform Developer I/II, Administrator) are a significant advantage.

What You'll Gain

Joining Johns Hopkins Carey Business School means becoming part of an institution dedicated to excellence and innovation. You'll have the unique opportunity to lead impactful Salesforce initiatives, directly contributing to the success of our educational programs.
