We are excited to offer a freelance opportunity for a Clinical Specialist to join our critical Safety Project Emotional Distress (Clinical track). This initiative focuses on rigorously evaluating how AI systems interact during highly sensitive dialogues concerning emotional distress, suicidal ideation, and depression. Our central objective is to ensure the AI responds with empathy, responsibility, and an acute awareness of safety in high-stakes emotional situations.

This fully remote, worldwide role involves two distinct yet complementary activities:

Role-play: You will engage in structured, multi-turn conversations with an AI system. For each interaction, you will adopt a predefined persona and scenario, carefully crafted to represent authentic clinical presentations.
Evaluation: You will meticulously review the AI system's responses, assessing them against established clinical standards. This includes evaluating its empathy, sense of responsibility, and overall safety awareness in managing complex emotional scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

Engage in realistic, multi-turn role-play conversations with an AI system, consistently embodying specified personas and scenarios reflecting clinical emotional distress.
Critically evaluate AI generated responses for their empathetic quality, responsible advice, and adherence to safety protocols in sensitive contexts.
Assess AI capabilities in recognizing and appropriately responding to nuanced expressions of emotional distress, including suicidal ideation, and depression.
Provide detailed, constructive feedback based on clinical best practices to help refine and improve AI system performance.
Strictly adhere to all project guidelines, confidentiality agreements, and ethical considerations throughout the evaluation process.

Requirements

Possess a professional clinical background or equivalent experience in mental health, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise and sensitivity in handling conversations related to emotional distress, suicidal ideation, and depression.
Exceptional critical thinking skills and the ability to apply clinical judgment to AI interactions.
Strong command of English, both written and verbal, for effective communication and evaluation.
