The Role: Safety Facilitator
As a Safety Facilitator (Band IX), your primary mission will be to support operational and line management in maintaining a robust, world-class Occupational Health and Safety System. You will be instrumental in ensuring full compliance with safety standards, legal regulations, and the company’s internal VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) Safety Pillar to achieve the goal of zero workplace incidents.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
In this critical role, you will be expected to:
- Ensure absolute compliance with the applicable Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Monitor, advise on, and improve the performance of the plant's VPO Safety Pillar.
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards proactively to all staff members.
- Support and facilitate safety improvement initiatives across the brewery.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and drive the VPO Safety programme.
- Conduct comprehensive audits, legal compliance reviews, and safety performance evaluations.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations alongside line managers to identify root causes and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Manage and update crucial safety documentation, including SOPs, policies, and procedures.
- Identify training gaps, design training programs, and conduct safety inductions for both employees and contractors.
- Ensure the safe execution of Capex projects and support safe work practices on-site.
- Drive the timely closure of investigations, safety gaps, and legal compliance objectives.
- Support environmental compliance and assist with selected insurance claims as required.
- Ensure the site is adequately secured and that the contracted security provider complies with standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Education: A Tertiary Degree is essential; a National Diploma in Safety Management, Engineering, or a highly related field is required.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in a brewery or industrial FMCG environment, with active exposure to VPO, Safety, and Engineering fields.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ABInBev Safety, Health & Environmental Management Systems (VPO) or international standards like SAMTRAC or NEBOSH. Experience working with the NOSA integrated system is highly ideal.
- Core Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong presentation and report-drafting capabilities, and robust problem-solving skills (Incident Investigation).
