In this role, you will play an essential part in supporting quality assurance. You will be responsible for conducting rigorous laboratory and field tests on concrete and construction materials to guarantee full compliance with Cemmax's rigorous quality benchmarks. From performing accurate tests to maintaining laboratory equipment and reporting vital data, your work will directly impact the durability and safety of key construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
As a Quality Control Technician, your daily operations will include:
- Concrete Testing: Conduct concrete slump tests on-site and accurately document the outcomes. Collect and prepare concrete specimens/samples for laboratory analysis.
- Strength & Material Analysis: Perform compressive strength testing on concrete cubes at designated curing intervals. Conduct comprehensive aggregate testing, including moisture content analysis and sieve analysis.
- Collaboration & Feedback: Promptly communicate testing results to the batching plant team to facilitate real-time production mix adjustments.
- Lab Maintenance: Maintain the testing laboratory, curing tanks, and specialized apparatus in safe, clean, and fully operational conditions. Regularly inspect testing machinery and report maintenance needs.
- Documentation: Generate, organize, and archive accurate, up-to-date quality reports, test records, and related compliance documentation.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to company quality guidelines, industry testing standards, and all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, ensuring the consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Qualifications and Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Materials Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of hands-on experience in concrete quality control, laboratory testing, or construction materials evaluation. Prior experience within a ready-mix concrete plant or dedicated materials testing lab will be a distinct advantage.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of concrete properties, mix designs, and standardized aggregate testing methods.
- Competencies: High analytical capabilities with meticulous attention to detail, exceptional time management, strong record-keeping skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
