About the Role

If you take genuine pride in tracking down tricky bugs and want to help ship web applications that people love to use, this role will feel right at home. SumatoSoft is looking for a thoughtful and proactive QA Engineer to join our global team. You will jump directly into modern products built with Ruby on Rails, Node, and React, working alongside small engineering pods or taking the reins as the sole quality specialist on important initiatives. This is a fully remote, worldwide opportunity that gives you the freedom to do your best work from wherever you are located.

Overview

Over the last decade, SumatoSoft has developed more than 150 custom software solutions for clients across IoT, healthcare, and financial technology. We focus on transparent communication, direct teamwork, and high engineering standards without unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. In this position, you will spend your time collaborating with small QA teams of two or three specialists, or independently managing testing efforts on distinct web projects from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

We need someone who enjoys keeping web applications dependable and fast. Day to day, you will contribute across several critical areas

Plan and execute hands on manual functional testing, cross browser validation, and mobile device checks
Organize regression runs that provide strong test coverage without slowing down active development cycles
Work alongside our QA Lead to establish practical test strategies suited to project timelines and team resources
Write clean and practical test documentation, including structured test plans, checklists, and clear test cases
Identify, document, and monitor defects through their complete lifecycle while keeping engineers and project managers in sync

Requirements

To hit the ground running with our distributed team, you should bring a strong foundation in modern web testing

Solid background in manual testing for modern, responsive web applications
Familiarity with environments built using Ruby on Rails, React.js, and Node.js technologies
Practical experience verifying user interfaces across multiple desktop browsers and mobile operating systems
Ability to draft clear test plans and concise test cases that team members can follow effortlessly
A sharp analytical eye, strong problem solving intuition, and comfort working independently when required
Strong English language skills, both written and spoken, to collaborate smoothly in an international setting
