About the Role: Procurement Officer, DSR Apapa
The Procurement Officer role is pivotal in supporting the dynamic procurement activities at DSR Apapa. This position involves comprehensive coordination of purchasing, diligent supplier management, and meticulous documentation, with a particular emphasis on navigating complex import processes and ensuring the smooth operation of our refinery. You will be instrumental in upholding stringent adherence to procurement policies, seamlessly supporting the Procure-to-Pay (P2P) cycle, and ultimately guaranteeing the uninterrupted supply of critical materials essential for our operations.
Key Responsibilities (Duties & Responsibilities)
- Identify, prequalify, and actively engage with approved suppliers, particularly those critical for agro-services, essential spare parts, and field operations.
- Proactively request and thoroughly evaluate quotations from a diverse range of vendors for both ongoing operational needs and strategic project requirements.
- Prepare insightful comparative bid analyses, providing recommendations for the most cost-effective and technically suitable options available.
- Rigorously review Purchase Requisitions (PRs) to ensure absolute accuracy and completeness.
- Skillfully prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) utilizing SAP MM, ensuring system integrity.
- Coordinate approval workflows efficiently and ensure the timely issuance of POs to vendors.
- Diligently follow up on order confirmations and closely monitor delivery timelines to the site, mitigating potential delays.
- Liaise effectively with logistics, warehouse, agriculture, and finance teams to facilitate seamless delivery tracking and prompt invoice processing.
- Actively support local sourcing initiatives and vendor development efforts, aimed at enhancing supply reliability within the Numan region.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive procurement records within SAP and physical files, ensuring audit readiness.
- Generate essential procurement reports, conduct detailed spend analyses, and provide insightful vendor performance reviews.
- Support critical contract administration functions and foster strong supplier relationship management.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with company procurement policies and internal controls, safeguarding organizational assets.
- Support internal and external audit activities by promptly providing all required procurement documentation.
Key Focus Areas (Numan Specific)
- Procurement of agricultural inputs and vital chemicals.
- Sourcing of spares for fleet and heavy equipment.
- Development and engagement of local vendors.
- Efficient coordination of site logistics.
Competencies Required (Qualification & Experience)
We are seeking a candidate at Competency Level 2 – Contributing / Intermediate, possessing the following qualifications and experience:
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Engineering, Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, Economics, or a closely related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of Two (2) years of dedicated procurement experience.
- Prior experience in supporting field/agricultural or plant operations will be considered a significant advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SAP MM (Materials Management module).
- Demonstrated expertise in vendor management and contract administration.
- Foundational skills in negotiation and cost analysis.
