Main Functions
- Lead a design team in the development of basic process design specifications.
- Provide vital oversight of engineering contractors' technical deliverables during the front-end design and detailed engineering phases of major projects.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Monitor and guide junior engineers in developing process design specifications, such as heat and material balances, design flow plans, and process equipment design.
- Lead or perform process optimization studies to identify capital and operating cost savings, process configuration alternatives, and safety facility requirements.
- Ensure engineering contractor work aligns seamlessly with company methods, project specifications, and owner requirements.
- Participate actively in Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Reviews for new or modified facilities.
- Provide expert commissioning and start-up assistance for new or modified facilities as needed.
- Assist in establishing effective organization and staffing processes.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: B.Sc Degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related equivalent field is strictly required.
- Industry Experience: Proven experience within the petroleum refining or chemical process industries, or working with an engineering contractor serving these sectors.
- Project Background: Hands-on experience in capital project development.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional ability to adapt to tight deadlines, manage heavy workloads, and navigate frequent changes in priorities.
- Technical Proficiency: Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
- Communication: Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, with a strong command of technical and business communication standards.
