The Heart of the Role: Key Purpose
As a Packaging Process Operator, your primary responsibility will be to safely operate and meticulously maintain defined Packaging equipment and critical process areas. This role carries significant business impact, directly influencing cost efficiency and consumer quality, and is fundamental to achieving optimal effectiveness across our packaging lines.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Driving Excellence Every Day
- Operating and Process Control: You will be instrumental in operating equipment within our Packaging process areas, adhering strictly to VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) standards. Your proactive approach will involve constantly reviewing process performance against targets, meticulously recording short stops, and swiftly correcting any out-of-control situations using VPO tools. Accurate recording of waste and product movement on appropriate documentation or information systems will be crucial, along with analyzing trends to identify and resolve potential problems.
- Maintenance of Plant and Equipment: Beyond operation, you will execute autonomous maintenance operations as defined for your process areas. Your vigilance will be key in identifying defective plant components and reporting them to the Process Artisan or Team Leader for prompt resolution. Furthermore, you will actively assist the Process Artisan/Machine Specialist in performing running repairs during your shift.
- Quality Control and Analysis: Maintaining our reputation for quality is paramount. You will carry out all required quality checks and analyses, diligently recording the results on the appropriate information systems. A comprehensive list of quality checks will be provided in detailed work instructions, and you will be empowered to react to these results effectively using supplied VPO tools.
- Communication: Collaboration is at the core of our success. You will actively participate in shift meetings, asking insightful questions to deepen your understanding and contributing valuable suggestions. Utilizing action logs to record issues, problems, and improvement opportunities, you will fully grasp the team's objectives and contribute to achieving them. Staying informed and informing others of issues through relevant communication media (e.g., shift logbook) and ensuring thorough handovers to incoming shift team members, covering plant performance, quality, and maintenance issues, are vital aspects of this role.
- Problem Solving: When challenges arise, you will be equipped to use VPO problem-solving tools to effectively resolve and meticulously record the issues, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements: What We're Looking For
- A relevant Technical Qualification / Diploma, demonstrating your foundational knowledge.
- Completion of 9 months of on-the-job training and SKAP (Skills, Knowledge and Performance) assessment.
- Proven experience within a Brewing FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry is highly desirable.
