The Role: Packaging Instrument Artisan

As a Packaging Instrument Artisan, your primary mission will be to maintain, secure, and continuously improve all control and automation systems. You will focus heavily on field instrumentation, networking, and manufacturing execution systems (MES), ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency in the packaging process.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you will be expected to:

System Optimisation: Conduct troubleshooting and optimization of all process control systems within the brewery, supporting the implementation of new systems.
Process Specification Interpretation: Read and interpret process descriptions to conduct modifications and optimizations of control setups according to safety and quality standards.
Deviation Management: Quickly identify process control deviations, offering rapid resolutions or structural recommendations.
Change Management Support: Guide and assist in the process control change management protocol to ensure system stability.
Integrity and Security: Maintain the hardware integrity and software security of all process control equipment.
Preventative Maintenance: Support and upgrade preventative maintenance schedules to avert system failures.
Pipeline Development: Actively coach and develop trainees, instrument apprentices, and process operators to sustain a strong pipeline of talent.
Standby Duties: Participate in shift rotations and standby duties as required by production needs.
Health and Safety: Maintain a clean, secure, and hazard-free working environment.

Key Attributes and Competencies

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualities:

Proven technical knowledge of process measurement instruments (level, temperature, pressure, pH, conductivity) and calibration protocols.
Familiarity with Control Systems architecture, including PLC networks, servers, and workstations.
Basic familiarity with data historian platforms such as InSQL.
Advantageous knowledge of Fieldbus technologies like Profibus, ASI, and industrial Ethernet.
Strong analytical thinking and methodical problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
A passion for team-building and continuous skill acquisition.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates applying for this role must meet the following criteria:

A completed Process Instrumentation apprenticeship with an N5 qualification and trade test certification. Candidates working toward an N6 or holding a National Diploma (S4) are preferred.
Prior hands-on experience working in a process control environment.
Demonstrated experience with SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) and PDM is highly advantageous.
