As our Open Systems Architect, you will play a pivotal role in these critical migration projects, transitioning core mainframe functionalities to robust open systems. This is a full-time, fully remote position, offering you the flexibility to contribute your expertise globally.

Key Responsibilities

Thoroughly assess existing mainframe job management, reporting, and batch processing systems to understand their intricacies and pain points.
Design and develop detailed migration strategies and procedures for moving these critical mainframe applications to modern open environments.
Provide indispensable technical guidance and support to our development teams, actively identifying and resolving complex technical challenges.
Define and champion clear architectural standards for future systems, ensuring optimal performance, ironclad security, and exceptional usability.
Collaborate on the creation of essential project documentation, including comprehensive architectural design specifications.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you will bring a strong background in both mainframe and open systems environments, coupled with a passion for modernization. Your expertise should include:

Proven experience in mainframe systems, particularly with job management, reporting, and batch processing technologies (e.g., JCL, COBOL, DB2, CICS).
Solid understanding of open systems architectures and technologies (e.g., Linux, Windows Server, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, GCP, scripting languages, modern databases).
Demonstrated ability to design and implement complex system migrations from legacy to modern platforms.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and a track record of providing effective technical support and solutions.
Experience in establishing technical standards for system performance, security, and usability.
Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly to diverse teams.
Ability to create high-quality technical documentation, including architectural designs.
