The Opportunity: Onshore Project Control Lead & Contract Engineer
This is a critical role following the Contract award and Final Investment Decision (FID) for a major project. As the Onshore Project Control Lead & Contract Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting the WHP Package Manager, taking primary accountability for the delivery of the EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning) contract from award through to operations. Your expertise will ensure rigorous compliance with contractual terms, proactive management of variations and claims, and precise reporting of costs and schedules.
The ultimate objective of this role is to deliver the WHP Project within the approved budget and schedule, contributing to a safe execution without major H3SE incidents, and supporting a timely start-up and operations by Q4 2028.
Key Responsibilities and Impact Areas:
- Contract Administration & Governance: Coordinate and supervise the robust administration of EPCC contracts, ensuring full compliance with company procedures, including correspondence management, variation control, claims assessment, and contract close-out.
- Project Controls, Documentation & Reporting: Implement and maintain stringent project control standards across cost, schedule, and change management. Coordinate with the Document Control Center (DCC) to ensure accurate documentation and the preparation of high-quality execution, monthly, and management reports.
- Planning & Scheduling Control: Develop, meticulously maintain, and control the package execution schedule. Monitor progress against the baseline, identify critical paths and deviations, and propose effective mitigation and recovery actions.
- Cost Control & Budget Management: In close coordination with Finance/Cost Control, oversee cost monitoring, commitment tracking, forecasting, and comprehensive budget performance for the WHP package. Ensure early identification and justification of cost deviations and change impacts.
- Change & Variation Management: Consolidate, assess, and meticulously document all technical, schedule, and commercial changes, ensuring strict adherence to Company’s change management processes. Advise the Package Manager on cost and schedule implications and support necessary negotiations.
- Contractual & Commercial Support: Provide invaluable contractual and commercial advice, including assessment of Contractor positions, review of estimates, and support for variations and claims resolution, backed by robust justification and documentation.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and control project performance, providing real-time Earned Value Forecast (EFC) for costs and updated P50/P10/P90 planning for schedules, identifying deviations and proposing corrective actions.
- Nigerian Content Compliance: Monitor and ensure full compliance with all Nigerian Content requirements applicable to the WHP package, including reporting obligations and coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Team Leadership & Coordination: Manage and coordinate dedicated Project Control and Project Management Consultancy (PMC) resources, ensuring alignment, workload prioritization, and consistent application of standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with partners (AMNI) and authorities, ensuring efficient coordination with EPC contractors and local communities.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are seeking an individual who not only meets the technical requirements but also embodies leadership, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to project challenges. The ideal candidate will possess:
