Role Overview
The Oil Man plays an indispensable role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of the mill house machinery. Responsible for the meticulous lubrication of all equipment, the successful candidate will directly support the maintenance and general upkeep of critical components, including milling drives, cane preparatory devices, and centrifugal pumps. This position is vital to minimizing wear and tear, preventing mechanical breakdowns, and sustaining uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Equipment Lubrication: Carry out daily lubrication of all moving and rotating machinery components in strict compliance with the established lubrication schedule.
- Monitoring and Inspection: Routinely monitor oil levels, operating temperatures, and detect any potential leakages in gearboxes, bearings, and centrifugal pumps.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of all lubrication activities, oil consumption, and maintenance checklists.
- Maintenance Support: Actively assist engineering and maintenance teams during scheduled shutdowns, inspections, and comprehensive equipment overhauls.
- Quality Control: Ensure the precise grade and quantity of lubricants are utilized in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Troubleshooting & Reporting: Promptly report abnormal noises, unusual vibrations, overheating, or fluid leakages to the shift engineer.
- System Cleaning: Assist in cleaning lubrication lines, filters, and oil tanks to ensure smooth, unhindered oil circulation.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols, housekeeping standard practices, and environmental guidelines when handling lubricants and waste.
- Inventory Management: Maintain adequate stocks of lubricants and proactively notify supervisors of impending shortages.
- Preventive Action: Contribute constructively to the plant's preventive maintenance program for all mill house machinery.
Educational Qualifications and Experience Requirements
- Minimum Qualification: Minimum of Trade Test 1 (TT1).
- Professional Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in lubrication, maintenance, and operations support within a Sugar Factory, Power Plant, or similar heavy industrial plant environment.
