Overview

This is a pro-bono volunteer position with JerseySTEM, a mission-driven professional network dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. Our members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of our organization’s gender-equity agenda. We seek talented professionals to commit their time and energy for a long-term engagement with our mission. Membership involves a minimum six-month commitment, requiring approximately six flexible hours per week. A $100 refundable deposit is part of the membership, which is returned after six months of active contribution. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from this deposit.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and execute JerseySTEM's digital engagement strategy across various social media platforms.
Develop, curate, and schedule compelling content for Discord, LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and Instagram to inform, engage, and inspire our audience.
Actively foster and moderate online community interactions, ensuring a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment.
Monitor social media trends, conversations, and performance metrics to optimize content strategy and engagement.
Collaborate with other JerseySTEM teams to promote events, programs, and success stories.
Maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity across all digital channels.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in social media management, content creation, and community moderation.
Proficiency with major social media platforms including Discord, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to craft engaging and persuasive messages.
A deep understanding of online community dynamics and best practices for fostering positive interaction.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote, volunteer-based team.
Commitment to JerseySTEM’s mission of empowering underserved middle school girls in STEM.
Availability to commit approximately six flexible hours per week for a minimum of six months.
