The Purpose of the Role

As a Milling Assistant, your primary objective is to implement all designated operational tasks alongside existing job requirements to ensure the seamless, safe, and highly efficient running of the mill. You will play a vital role in maintaining production standards and quality control.

Key Job Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be actively involved in daily mill operations, which include the following core duties:

  • Inventory & Volume Monitoring: Take precise measurements of wheat and wheat products stored in the storage silos.
  • Quality Control: Conduct sampling and detailed analysis of flour streams to guarantee product standards.
  • Chemical Draw Rate: Coordinate and accurately take chemical draw rates.
  • Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment within the mill, fully complying with both Health & Safety regulations.
  • Compliance: Strictly adhere to Quality Management System (QMS) and Food Safety Management System (FSMS) guidelines.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Carry out essential production (preventive and breakdown) maintenance to minimize downtime and keep machinery running optimally.
  • Reporting: Diligently document process readings and generate comprehensive quality analysis reports.

Requirements and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following academic and technical qualifications:

  • Education: Minimum of five (5) O’ Level credits, including Mathematics and English, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings.
  • Technical Edge: A relevant Technical Certification will be considered a strong added advantage.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of cognate, hands-on experience in a milling or manufacturing environment.

Skills & Competencies Needed

FMN is looking for a professional who demonstrates:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid familiarity with milling machinery, including its setup, operation, and basic preventive maintenance.
  • In-depth understanding of various milling tools, their specific uses, and proper upkeep.
  • Practical knowledge of material handling techniques, including loading, unloading, and transporting materials safely.
