The Role and Its Impact

An MEP QA/QC Engineer plays a pivotal role in the lifecycle of any major construction project. In this position, you will oversee the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Your primary mission will be to ensure that all installations not only comply with the exact project specifications but also align with international standards, local safety regulations, and overall client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

As the MEP QA/QC Engineer, your daily responsibilities will include:

Implementing Procedures: Establish and execute robust QA/QC procedures for all MEP works in compliance with approved project plans, specifications, and established international benchmarks.
Inspections and Audits: Perform detailed inspections, material quality checks, workmanship audits, and routine testing of electrical, mechanical, and piping systems.
Documentation and Compliance: Create, organize, and maintain rigorous QA/QC records, including detailed inspection reports, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), conformity checklists, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Monitor and enforce absolute compliance with safety and environmental guidelines across all stages of project execution.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a bridge of communication between contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, material suppliers, and independent third-party inspectors to maintain standard alignment.
Commissioning and Handover: Support testing, systematic commissioning, defect resolution (snagging), and the final successful handover of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing assets to the client.

Required Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, candidates are expected to meet the following professional criteria:

Education: A Higher National Diploma (HND) or a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of active experience specializing in MEP QA/QC within the construction or engineering industry.
Technical Knowledge: Sound understanding of MEP system designs, quality assurance processes, and construction standards. Familiarity with international regulatory codes (such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, etc.) is highly critical.
Software Proficiency: Practical familiarity with AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and dedicated quality management software is highly advantageous.
Core Skills: Exceptional analytical capabilities, precise documentation skills, robust problem-solving ability, and clear verbal/written communication.
