Overview

We need a passionate advocate to lead our state-level policy initiatives. You will monitor legislation, build coalitions, and engage with lawmakers to advance protections for LGBTQ+ youth. By combining strategic thinking with deep empathy, you will help shape policies that genuinely reflect our core values of heart, integrity, community, belonging, and progress.

Key Responsibilities

Track, analyze, and respond to state legislation impacting LGBTQ+ individuals across various states.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, lawmakers, and coalition members.
Draft compelling advocacy materials including policy briefs, fact sheets, and legislative testimony.
Coordinate grassroots mobilization efforts to amplify our voice in key state capitals.
Represent the organization at hearings, briefings, and public events.

Requirements

Demonstrated professional experience in state-level legislative advocacy or public policy.
Deep understanding of the legislative process and political landscapes across different states.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex policies for diverse audiences.
A profound commitment to the mission of The Trevor Project and the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ youth.
